Job Overview

The CAD Engineering Technician creates engineering drawings using CAD software for complex parts and assemblies, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including the areas of design, manufacturing, tooling, and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Assist hardware engineering, manufacturing engineering, and other engineering teams by providing CAD drafting support to create/revise drawings for new/legacy custom parts, and by reviewing dimensions and tolerances on drawings to ensure their suitability for the intended production process.
  • Create part models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using current ASME Y14.5 Dimensioning, and Tolerancing standard.
  • Work with various teams to identify drafting support needs and schedule workload based on priorities set by management.
  • Support model reviews to ensure that parts can be manufactured efficiently and in compliance with internal requirements
  • Assist in lifecycle changes and production release of drawings via PLM.
  • Process engineering change orders and lead the implementation process.
  • Provide support for manufacturing issues via drawing changes.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, tooling, and quality.
  • Support the Engineering Design Services Department with administrative tasks.

Required

 

  • Technician Degree: Precision Mechanics, CAD Drafting, or related field.
  • 1+ years of related experience working as a Drafter directly or handling drafting in CAD related roles.
  • Experience with CAD software.
  • Experience reviewing engineering drawings.
  • High level of competency with drafting standards.

Desired

 

  • Experience with PLM CAD data management.
  • Experience working with Catia V5 or Catia V6, and Enovia.
  • Knowledge of composite fabrication processes.
  • Experience working in a similar industry.
  • Engineering drawing practices using American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Y14.100 and Y14.24.
  • Spanish (written and spoken)
  • English: B1/C1 in the Common European Framework
