Lab Technician

Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.

As a Lab Technician, you will be responsible for a variety of technical and support tasks within the embedded electronics laboratory. The Lab Technician will support electronic hardware and software development by managing lab equipment, ensuring ESD compliance, calibrating instruments, fabricating test fixtures, and performing modifications on electronic boards. This role also oversees lab resource assignments, monitors inventory and supplies, and ensures adherence to technical procedures and safety standards.

• Ensure the Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) control measurements are working within acceptable parameters.
• Monitor compliance with the company policies and procedures for handling ESD sensitive devices.
• Calibrate measurement equipment.
• Fabricate wires and fixtures for the verification of electronic hardware and software.
• Perform modifications of electronic boards with surface-mounted devices.
• Manage the inventory of measurement equipment.
• Monitor assignments of lab resources (test stations, test equipment, development boards).
• Monitor availability of lab supplies.
• Other related tasks.

• Technical or associate degree in electronics, industrial electronics or electrical installations.
• Understanding of electronics schematic diagrams.
• Proficiency in English: B2 or higher.
• Basic knowledge of soldering/desoldering of surface-mounted devices.

• More than 1 year of experience soldering/desoldering.
